Use of the Service

Transcript Shield provides browser-based tools that help researchers prepare transcripts by detecting and redacting personally identifiable information before transcripts are shared, stored, or analyzed.

You may use the service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not misuse the service, attempt to gain unauthorized access, interfere with its operation, reverse engineer the application, or use the service in a way that harms Transcript Shield or other users.

Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for any activity that occurs under it. You agree to provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date. If you believe your account has been compromised, please notify us as soon as possible.

Your Content and Local Processing

Transcript Shield processes transcript content locally in your browser. Transcript content is not uploaded to or stored on our servers as part of the cleaning process.

You retain ownership of all transcript content you process with Transcript Shield. Because transcript content is processed locally, no license to that content is required for us to provide the service.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights and permissions to process any transcript, including any participant consent required by law or your organization.

Workspace settings, custom dictionaries, and other account configuration data may be stored by us to provide the service across sessions and devices. You grant us a limited license to store and process that information solely to operate the service.

Automated Detection and Its Limits

Transcript Shield uses automated systems to detect and redact personally identifiable information. While we strive for high accuracy, automated detection is not perfect and may miss or incorrectly identify some information.

You are responsible for reviewing redactions before using or sharing a transcript and for complying with any legal, contractual, regulatory, or ethical obligations that apply to your data. Transcript Shield assists with redaction but does not guarantee that a transcript is free of personally identifiable information.

Service Availability

We work to provide reliable access to Transcript Shield but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Access may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, security, or technical issues.

Because transcript processing occurs in your browser, performance may also depend on your device, browser, and internet connection.

Payments and Subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are billed according to the plan you select. Pricing, billing cycles, and cancellation terms are presented during checkout. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may update pricing with reasonable notice.

Intellectual Property

Transcript Shield, including its software, design, branding, and related intellectual property, is owned by Peridot LLC or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works without our prior written permission.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or use the service in a way that threatens the security or operation of the service.

You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your account data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Transcript content is unaffected because it is processed locally and is not stored by Transcript Shield.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Transcript Shield shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of the service, including damages arising from the disclosure of information that was not detected or redacted by the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Transcript Shield in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the service or by email. Continued use of Transcript Shield after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
